Huge reserves of oil and gas in Crete - Τεράστια αποθέματα πετρελαίου και αερίου κρύβει η Κρήτη

According to researcher/professor of the University of Crete and Director of the Canadian government Antonis Foskolos there are estimated to exist around 1.5 trillion cubic meters of natural gas to the southwest of Crete. The internationally famous researcher in statements that he made in Crete let it be known that he perceives in a positive way the efforts made by the government to exploit the mineral wealth of the country and notes that Greece will be able to cast loose from the IMF by making the right moves.

He suggests that the government should pass the message that the future of European energy is held by North Africa, Eastern Mediterranean and Greece.

As he explained the plan consists of three pieces. The first is that we must exploit our mineral wealth. The second is that Europe needs our mineral wealth and the third part is our great geopolitical position. "The gas that exists in Eastern Mediterranean, ie in Cyprus, Israel, Egypt and Lebanon, should be channeled through Crete to the European Union ".

He also noted that, "Crete now holds the ''key''. Further research is scheduled to happen in the area between Plakias and Frangokastello, as it is estimated that there exist ''hidden'' around 1.5 trillion cubic meters of natural gas."

Περί τους 2.000... πρίνους και το 1,5 τρισεκατομμύριο κυβικά μέτρα φυσικού αερίου "κρύβει" μέσα της η νοτιοδυτική Κρήτη, υποστηρίζει ο ερευνητής - καθηγητής του Πολυτεχνείου Κρήτης και σύμβουλος της καναδικής κυβέρνησης Αντώνης Φώσκολος. Ο διεθνούς απήχησης ερευνητής σε δηλώσεις του στην Κρήτη βλέπει με θετικό τρόπο τις κυβερνητικές πρωτοβουλίες για την εκμετάλλευση του ορυκτού πλούτου της χώρας επισημαίνοντας ότι η Ελλάδα με σωστές κινήσεις θα ξεφύγει οριστικά από τα "δόντια" του ΔΝΤ και της τρόικας.

Παράλληλα ανέφερε ότι η κυβέρνηση θα πρέπει να περάσει στους ετέρους το μήνυμα πως το ενεργειακό μέλλον τις Ευρώπης είναι η Βόρειος Αφρική, η Ανατολική Μεσόγειος και η Ελλάδα.

Οπως εξήγησε, στο πλάνο υπάρχουν τρία κομμάτια. Το πρώτο είναι ότι πρέπει να αξιοποιήσουμε τον ορυκτό πλούτο. Το δεύτερο ότι τον ορυκτό πλούτο τον χρειάζεται η Ευρώπη και το τρίτο κομμάτι είναι η μεγάλη γεωπολιτική δύναμη που αποκτούμε. "Το φυσικό αέριο, που έχει η Ανατολική Μεσόγειος, δηλαδή η Κύπρος, το Ισραήλ, η Αίγυπτος και ο Λίβανος, θα πρέπει να διοχετευτεί στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ενωση μέσω Κρήτης".

Οπως τόνισε ο ερευνητής, "η Κρήτη αυτή τη στιγμή έχει ένα ''κλειδί'' τρομακτικό. Στην περιοχή μεταξύ Πλακιά και Φραγκοκάστελλου, στην οποία θα γίνουν έρευνες, ''κρύβονται'' 1,5 τρισεκατομμύριο κυβικά μέτρα φυσικού αερίου".
